A Valentine to Scotland

You don’t have to go far from home to have an adventure, you don’t have to leave your country, you don’t even have to leave your town; there is something new to discover even in the most familiar of places.

I am lucky to live in a country full of variety.  Scotland has it all: grand castles and humble crofts; high mountains and lowland farms; creeping fingers of sea lochs and the man-made straight stripes of canals; rugged coast and sheltered harbours; vibrant cities and uninhabited islands; dense woodland and open moor.  There truly is something for everyone.

In the spirit of showing love to our closest companions on Valentine’s day, this post marks the start of Scottish Season.  For the next few weeks I will be sharing some of the lesser known, or harder to reach places that Scotland has to offer, those a bit further from the tourist trail.  I hope that you’ll join me on the journey.
